Pic: Jasen Mears scrub cutting the track cutting work is going to be mostly delivered by J Mears Contracting Ltd. They are the contracting business of the island landowner Jasen Mears. Here is Jasen hard at work on the scrub bar on D’Urville Peninsula, with Craig Shaw in the background.
Good news re Rangitoto Birdsong, the D’Urville Island Stoat Eradication Charitable Trust project: preliminary track work has begun in the Catherine Cove area and more track work will be carried out over the next 6-8 months as we prepare the ground work for trapping to begin in January 2022.
The start of project work on the Island is a significant milestone for Rangitoto Birdsong and we hope the French Pass and D’Urville community will be as excited as Trust members to reach this point.
As always, the local community’s support is greatly appreciated.
